Series Preview vs Woodsmen

Sep 17, 2025

(WAUSAU, WI)- The Cyclones begin their 2025-26 season campaign Friday night at Tomah Ice Center in Tomah, Wisconsin. Wausau was 6-2 versus Wisconsin a year ago, but with roster changes associated with junior hockey it is always difficult to tell how much that will impact a season opening series.  Wausau returns 12 players from their 2024-25 squad. Brady Knutsen and Eiji Hofmann highlight the forward group with a combined 21 goals and 44 assists last season. Fans can watch all 47 regular season Cyclones games on NAHLTV.com. Puck drops at 7:15pm on both Friday and Saturday night.

What to Watch For

Owen Renslow and Sean Hall are a couple of newcomers to keep an eye on this weekend. Renslow contributed 53 points in both his junior and senior years at Marshall HS (Minnesota), meanwhile Hall had 19 goals 11 assists in 23 games last season at Forest Hills Northeast HS. Two of the veteran leaders that Wausau will rely on early this season are defenseman Mario Savino and Davis Polifka. Savino and Polifka played in a combined 96 games last season and produced 41 points.

Between the Pipes

Wausau is projected to split time between Brady Faille and Tanner Bonjernoor in net this weekend. Faille had a 2.83 GAA in eight games last season and Bonjernoor sported a 2.30 in 31 games. They combined for a 24-10-1-1 record in net.
