Coaching Staff

 

Head Coach & General Manager of Hockey Operations – Luke Meyer

Meyer is a native Baldwin, Wisconsin where he played four years of varsity hockey. Prior to the 2026-27 season Meyer served as an Assistant Coach for three seasons with the Cyclones. He then attended Minnesota State – Mankato and graduated with a degree in Earth Science. Meyer played two years in the ACHA with Mankato and then coached for Minnesota State – Mankato ACHA D2 team and was an Assistant Coach with the Mankato East Cougars for two seasons.

Assistant Coach – Max Cothern

Cothern is a native of Rochester, Minnesota, and graduate of Rochester Mayo High School, where he played three years of varsity hockey as a goaltender. Following high school, Cothern played one season of junior hockey with the Southern Oregon Spartans before returning home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon returning to Rochester, he began his coaching career with the Rochester Youth Hockey Association, where he spent five years developing as a coach and working his way through the ranks. During his final three seasons with RYHA, Cothern served as a head coach, focusing on player development and helping athletes take the next step in their hockey careers. In addition to coaching during the winter season, he has spent his summers coaching various AAA hockey teams, gaining experience working with players at multiple levels. Outside of hockey, Cothern holds a Minnesota Firefighter license earned through Riverland College in Austin, Minnesota. When he’s not at the rink or working, he enjoys spending time in the gym and on the golf course.

Goalie Coach/Scout – Taylor Carey

 Carey will oversee goaltenders, coaching them through video and on ice sessions. He will also assist in player development, player recruiting and game/practice strategy. Taylor has been working with goalies and coaching for the past 9 years and has made a large impact on a lot of young men’s lives. He has helped develop goalies such as Cooper Black from Dartmouth College (NCAA) and Dillon Kelly with the Henderson Silver Knights (AHL). Carey is a Michigan native.
