Apr 17, 2026

Wausau, WI – The Cyclones have signed defenseman Kaleb Von Gunten to 2026-27 season tender agreement. Von Gunten, a native of Palmer, Alaska comes to Wausau after playing for the Team Alaska 18U AAA program. Last season he put up 4 goals and had 11 assists in 39 games. During the 2024-25 season at Palmer High he netted 14 goals and had 19 assists in 26 games.

“Kaleb is a strong skating, sturdy defenseman who keeps things simple while having strong offensive instincts. He defends well and isn’t afraid of using his frame to shut plays down, while making a great first pass, and using his strong hockey IQ to escape the opposing teams forecheck. Cyclones fans will recognize his name, as his brother Elijah scored huge goals for us last season. We are extremely excited to bring Kaleb into Wausau to continue his development. We believe he is a player that could have a big impact on our D-core and team with his steadiness,” stated Head Coach/GM of Hockey Operations Nathan Oystrick.
