Wausau signs forward Elijah Vongunten

May 21, 2025

Wausau, WI – The Cyclones have signed forward Elijah Vongunten from Wausau to 2025-26 season tender agreement. Vongunten spent his high school hockey career with Palmer High. During his senior season he scored 44 goals and had 30 assists in 26 games. Vongunten helped lead Palmer to the D2 Alaska Hockey State Title and was named to the All-State Tournament First Team.

“We are extremely happy to have signed Elijah to a Tender. His frame and speed make him a dangerous player on the ice in all situations. We tried to sign him last season, but he wanted to finish out his senior season of high school playing with his younger brother and win a state championship together, which they accomplished. His winning pedigree will be a great asset for the Cyclones organization,” stated Head Coach/GM of Hockey Operations Nathan Oystrick.
