Wausau, WI – The Wausau Cyclones are pleased to announce that defenseman Mario Savino has committed to play ACHA Division 2 college hockey at Lake State University. Savino, a native of Hudson, Wisconsin played in 46 games this past season and netted four goals while contributing 13 assists.
“We are absolutely over the moon excited for Mario. Not only because of the opportunity in front of him at Lake State to enter a phenomenal Criminal Justice program, but to also continue playing the game he loves. Mario has been the ultimate teammate and warrior over the last 3 seasons in Wausau. He came to Wausau as a young player, fit in immediately, never complained and worked his ass off. And because of his effort, commitment, and character he is leaving as one of the best leaders we’ve had in the organization during my time. It was a pleasure being Mario’s coach, and the entire organization from ownership, to coaches, to his teammates – past and present – are excited to watch him continue playing the game while chasing his dream career,” stated Head Coach Nathan Oystrick.
