(Wausau, WI)- The Wausau RiverWolves took on the Wisconsin Whalers from Oregon, Wisconsin at Marathon Park on Friday Night.  The two teams met for the first time this season with the Whalers coming into the game in 3rd place in the Central Division.

Owen Routheut native of Feversham, Ontario was able to light the lamp three times tonight for his first career hat-trick with the RiverWolves.  Owen scored one goal at the end of the second at the 12:52 mark and the other two both coming in the 3rd period, less than 3 minutes apart.  Michael Alfonso got the scoring started for the RIverWovles in the first, Austin Burgener also notched his first goal of the year in the first.  Defenseman Ben Brown also got his first goal as a RiverWolf tonight. Connor Moore closed out the scoring with an empty netter, which capped off the 7-3 win.  Starting in goal tonight for Wausau was Jackson Fazendin, he was able to stop 36 shots against the Whalers, and netted his first career win in a RiverWolves uniform.

The Wausau RiverWolves continue their homestand tomorrow night as they take on the La Crosse Freeze and then face Wisconsin Whalers again on Sunday at Marathon Park.
