(WAUSAU, WI)- The Cyclones begin their 2024-25 season campaign Friday night at the Owens Center in Peoria, Illinois. Wausau was a perfect 8-0 versus Peoria a year ago, but with roster changes associated with junior hockey it is always tough to tell leading into a season opening series what to expect in the matchup. Wausau returns 12 players from their 2023-24 squad. Connor Dvorak and John Kriz highlight the forward group with a combined 50 goals and 75 assists last season. Fans can watch all 47 regular season Cyclones games on NAHLTV.com. Puck drops at 6pm on both Friday and Saturday night.
What to Watch For
Look for the Cyclones to rely on their veteran leaders this weekend with more than half of the roster seeing their first action at the junior level. Two of the veteran leaders on the back end are defenseman Easton Plachetka and Jack Dawley. Pachetka and Dawley played in a combined 86 games with 27 points last year.
Between the Pipes
Wausau is expected to start Brady Faille and Tanner Bonjernoor in net this weekend. Faille had a 2.14 GAA in eight games last season and Bonjernoor sported a 2.52 in 14 games. They combined for a 16-3 record in net.
