Fraser Cup Division Semifinals Playoff Series Preview

(WAUSAU, WI)- The Cyclones begin their quest for the Fraser Cup by hosting the Rochester Grizzlies on Friday at 7:10pm in the Fraser Cup Division Semifinals round of playoffs and then head to Rochester for game two of the series on Saturday at 7:05pm. If necessary, game three will be back in Wausau on Sunday at 6:10pm.  Wausau finished the regular season with a 33-11-2-1 record. The Grizzlies finished the regular season with a 28-14-3-2 record, finishing in 3rd place in the Central Division.  Head-to-head Wausau was 5-3 versus Rochester during the regular season and outscored them 32 to 24.

What to Watch For

Wausau forward Jake Garrow had an incredibility strong finish to his 2024-25 season. Garrow netted four goals and contributed eight assists in the final nine games. The Marquette, Michigan native lead the team in goals scored (29) and was second on the team with 31 assists. The Clones well-balanced offensive attack will have added importance as the postseason gets underway. Wausau had six skaters with 40 or more points during the regular season including Garrow (60), Dvorak (50), Kriz (49), Bechtolt (47), Gerum (45) and Saxon (40). Meanwhile, Rochester has just two skaters with 40 or points. Rochester’s top point contributors were forwards Aiden Emerich (46) and Noah Gillette (42). 

Between the Pipes

Wausau is expected to start Tanner Bonjernoor in net this weekend. Bonjernoor had a 2.27 GAA and .925 save percentage in 28 games. Bonjernoor finished the regular season with 21 wins, which put him 3rd in the league.  The Grizzlies are expected to start Andrew Dubin in net. Dubin had a 3.20 GAA and .891 save percentage in 19 games during the regular season.
