Cyclones hire Assistant Coach

Aug 3, 2023

(Wausau, WI) – The Wausau Cyclones are pleased to announce the hiring of Luke Meyer. Meyer will serve as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2023-24 season.  Meyer grew up in Baldwin, Wisconsin and played four years of varsity hockey. He then attended Minnesota State – Mankato and graduated with a degree in Earth Science. Meyer played two years in the ACHA with Mankato and then coached for Minnesota State – Mankato ACHA D2 team and was an Assistant Coach with the Mankato East Cougars for two seasons.

“We are extremely excited to add Luke to our staff. Luke brings a great amount of knowledge and experience, along with a passion and hunger for the game. Being a Wisconsin native and someone who has been around hockey his entire life, Luke also brings a great network of coaches and players that will help us in our scouting and recruiting process. I look forward to working with Luke on a daily basis to help continue the growth and advancement of our players, while pushing and challenging each other to make our organization the best it can be,” stated Head Coach & General Manager of Hockey Operations Nathan Oystrick.

“I also, want to take this opportunity to thank Jake Minch. Jake was an essential part of our organization and an amazing leader, coach and friend. Jake welcomed me in with open-arms and helped guide me through the transition into Wausau and the NA3HL. His work ethic, along with his big smile and happy-go lucky demeanor made it easy for me and the players to come to the rink every day. We want to wish Jake all the best in his future endeavors, in and out of hockey and I personally hope to see him around the Cyclones coaches office as much as possible,” commented Oystrick.
