Wausau, WI – The Wausau Cyclones are pleased to announce that Assistant Coach Luke Meyer has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain in Wausau. Meyer helped led Wausau to unprecedented success last season, which included a 25-win improvement from the previous season. The team set a franchise record for wins (38), won their 1st regular season division title in team history and also won their first playoff series in team history. Meyer, a native of Baldwin, Wisconsin played four years of varsity hockey and then attended Minnesota State – Mankato where he graduated with a degree in Earth Science. Meyer played two years in the ACHA with Mankato and then coached for Minnesota State – Mankato ACHA D2 team. He was also an Assistant Coach with the Mankato East Cougars for two seasons.
“We are extremely excited that Luke has decided to sign a multi-year contract to remain with us in Wausau. Luke has proven to be an integral part of our coaching staff and organization. He understands the culture we have built in Wausau and his work ethic, leadership, knowledge, coaching skills, and dedication play a key role in our players development and advancement. His contributions to our hockey team, on and off the ice are a big reason for the success we had in 2023-24. I am very excited to be working closely with him for another two years, while we continue to grow our organization and work to bring a Fraser Cup to Wausau,” stated Head Coach/GM of Hockey Operations Nathan Oystrick.
