WAUSAU, WI – On Friday, Dec. 12, the Cyclones played the first of just two home games in the month of December, hosting the Rochester Grizzlies for a single-game series. Prior to the game, Rochester was the only team the Cyclones had not hosted at Marathon Park during the 2025-26 season. The Cyclones held a two-game edge in the season series against Rochester, having won both of the first two games played at Rochester Recreation Center.
Rochester controlled the game from start to finish, comfortably beating the Cyclones for the first time this season. The Grizzlies scored three unanswered goals in the first period to take an early, commanding lead. Early in the second, Zach Pagel scored his fourth goal of the season to close the gap to 3-1, but Rochester quickly responded with two more goals. The Cyclones went cold for the remainder of the game, giving Rochester the 5-1 win.
For the Cyclones, Tanner Bonjernoor got the start in net but was pulled after allowing three goals on 18 shots in the first period. Brady Faille played in relief for the second and third periods, allowing two more goals on 19 shots.
