(WAUSAU, WI)- The Cyclones begin their 2021-22 season campaign Friday night at Affton Ice Rink in St. Louis, Missouri. Changes this offseason have not only occurred in Wausau with the new ownership and new brand identity, but in St. Louis as well. St. Louis saw their longtime Head Coach Chris Flaugher step down and Brian McGlynn take his place.  Wausau returns just 6 players from last season as the team retooled the roster. Those players include forward Nolan Gifford, forward Pavel Bakhtin, forward Hayden Shoemake, forward Bowen Arola, defenseman David MacDonald and goalie Mitch Miscevich.

What to Watch For

Look for Cyclones defenseman Derek Cagle to impose his will on the defensive end of the ice in a series versus his former team from a year ago. Cagle was acquired via trade from the Jr. Blues this offseason. During the 2020-21 season he contributed 4 goals and 12 assists in 37 games.

The St. Louis Jr. Blues are led by forward Gianluca Boccardi, who has three points in two games played on the young season.

Between the Pipes

Wausau is expected to split the series between Zach Dosan, native of Rosemount, Minnesota and Mitch Miscevich from Niles, Illinois.

The Blues are expected to start Brendan Cobb in net this weekend. Cobb took two losses back on September 10th and 11th versus Milwaukee after allowing 12 goals. He is a native of Ypsilanti, Michigan.
