(WAUSAU, WI)- After clinching a playoff spot last weekend the Clones will turn their attention to the Central Division title. Wausau 27-10-2-1 (57 points) will play host to the West Bend Power 29-7-2-1 (61 points) for the first time since December 13th. The Cyclones can pull into a first-place tie with a pair of regulation wins. Heading into the weekend West Bend leads the season series four games to one, but just one of those have been played at Marathon Park. Puck drops at 7:10pm on Friday and Saturday on NAHLTV. Wausau got additional good news last weekend as they expanded their points lead over Rochester in the fight for home ice advantage during the first round of the playoffs thanks to a Rochester loss to Wisconsin last Friday.
Player to Watch
Cyclones forward Landon Bechtolt is currently on an absolute heater. Bechtolt has netted two goals in four of his last five games played. Nine of his twenty goals this season have come in his last seven games played and is just five behind forward Jake Garrow for the team lead. Trade deadline acquisition Thomas Gerum made an immediate impact on his new squad last weekend. Gerum netted one goal and contributed four assists in his first two games in a Cyclones uniform.
Between the Pipes
Wausau is expected to start Dereck Namlick and Tanner Bonjernoor in net this weekend. Bonjernoor has a 2.50 GAA and .914 save percentage in 24 games. Namlick sports a 2.91 GAA and .907 save percentage.
