Clones spilt weekend

Jan 19, 2026

WAUSAU, WI — The Cyclones just wrapped up another weekend of back-to-back games, beginning with a loss on the road to the West Bend Power and ending with a bounce-back win over the Wisconsin Woodsmen. The win-loss pair pushes the Cyclones to 19-13-1, with 39 points on the season.

The weekend of hockey began for the Cyclones with a quick road trip to West Bend, Wisconsin, to face the Power. The Cyclones dropped their sixth game of the year to West Bend. Tanner Bonjernoor posted 44 saves on 46 shots for the Cyclones. After trailing 2-0, Maksim Salienko scored his fourth goal of the season to close the gap to one, but it wasn’t enough to tie the game, and an empty-net goal granted West Bend another win in its incredibly dominant season.

West Bend has only lost two games in regulation, one in overtime, and one in a shootout. The Power hold a 23-point cushion for first place in the division and have already punched their ticket to this year’s Fraser Cup playoffs. Trailing the season series 0-6, the Cyclones have two more chances to pick up a win against the Power this season, one at home and one on the road.

After the day trip to West Bend, the Cyclones returned to Marathon Park to kick off a three-game homestand. All three games, including Saturday’s, are against the Wisconsin Woodsmen. In front of 891 fans — the largest crowd of the season at Marathon Park — Wausau posted its fifth win over the Woodsmen this season, beating them 5-2 in regulation. The Cyclones had five different goal scorers across their five goals, including Owen Renslow, who scored his first career NA3HL goal.

This weekend, the Cyclones play the next two games of the homestand, both against the Wisconsin Woodsmen, at Marathon Park Ice Arena. The two games mark the final regular-season meetings between the two teams.
