(Wausau, WI)- The Wausau RiverWolves hit the road this past weekend as they traveled to Breezy Point, Minnesota to take on the North Stars for a two-game weekend series.

The Wausau RiverWolves were able to capture a win in Friday’s contest with the final score being 4-3.  Scoring got started for Wausau in the 1st with a goal from Matt Irwin at the 5:45 mark, Ryan Hempel and Santana Pinkert were both in on the assist.  The next goals for Wausau came in the second period, scoring first was Garrett Alton with just 50 seconds into the period.  Then next goal came from Janne Rukamp at the 3:52 mark with an assist coming from Garrett Alton.  With the scored tied up at 3, Matt Irwin scored his team leading 26th goal on the season at the 10:39 mark of the 3rd period to capture the win.  Starting in net for the RiverWolves was Henry Baribeau who picked up his 6th win on the season and he was able to accumulate 35 saves on the night.

In game two on Saturday night Wausau was unable to produce the same amount of offense as they came up short losing 7-3.  Matt Irwin scored the games first goal at the 58 second mark with one assist coming from Ron Rentner.  Irwin was able to collect a hat trick in the contest scoring his other two goals in the 2nd period bringing his total on the year up to 29 goals.  In between the pipes was Henry Baribeau who saved 45 shots in the contest.

Your Wausau RiverWolves will be back in action at Marathon Park on Friday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd for the last regular season  home games.
