Wausau WI- The RiverWolves host the Wisconsin Whalers in a two-game weekend series beginning Friday night at Marathon Park Ice Arena. Wisconsin comes into tonight’s game clinging to a small hope for the postseason as they will have to nearly play perfect hockey the rest of the way to catch the fourth place Peoria Mustangs.

What to Watch For

Look for Wisconsin’s quick skating Justin Schwartzmiller to continue his strong season. The Theresa, Wisconsin native had scored 25 goals and 21 assists this year. The 25 goals lead the Whalers.

Keep an eye on Wausau forward Janne Rukamp as he tries to continue his solid play of late.  Over his last four games, Rukamp has tallied a total of four points with two goals and two assists.  In the 10 games he has played in this year he has racked up eight points.

Between the Pipes

The Whalers are expected to start goaltender Caleb Sauer who is 9-7 in the 18 games he has played in.  The Waupun, Wisconsin native has a 4.23 goals against average to go along with a .892 save percentage.

Wausau is planning to start Krasnoobsk, Russia native Alexandr Gilev in goal for the weekend series.  In the 29 games he has played in he has gone 6-21 with a 5.21 goals against average.  His save percentage sits at .885.
