(Wausau, WI)- The Wausau RiverWolves and the Wisconsin Whalers had a Valentine’s Day match up at Marathon Park Ice Arena.  This matchup marked the 6th game between the two teams for the 2017-2018 season, as the Whalers are still one spot ahead of Wausau in the Central Division standings.

The Wausau RiverWolves played the first period in tonight’s contest without netting a goal, as the Whalers were up 1-0 after one.  At the 6:07 mark of the 2nd period, Garrett Alton was able to put Wausau on the board with his 7th goal on the season and the assist coming from Katy, Texas native Ryan Hempel.  Matt Irwin was able to score his team leading 24th goal on the season at the 10:18 mark of the 3rd period.  Starting in net tonight for the RiverWolves was St. Louis, Missouri native Christian Sanzottera, who is playing in his 6th game this year and was able to stop a total of 52 shots.

Your Wausau RiverWolves will be back in action at Marathon Park on Friday March 2nd and Saturday March 3rd for the last two regular season home games of the season.
